Summary: Overall this is a well-appointed and comfortable property. There are several things that may this perfect for families with small children. We appreciated the paper products and amenities in the kitchen. Loved having the blankets available and the extensive DVD library. The owners communicate extensively. We appreciated the prompt response to our questions. We understand the need for rules to protect the property, however some things seemed excessive. For example, we understand the need for lights outside for security, but perhaps having them on a motion sensor so that there is not so much light pollution. We wanted to sit outside to watch for northern lights, but the lights from the front of the house made this difficult. The light out back was on a motion sensor, so it would be simple to accomplish in the front as well. Our only significant complaint has to do with the showers. There was great hot water in the kitchen sink, but it was lukewarm at best in the bathrooms. We had 6 people who needed to shower, and despite spacing them out dramatically, no one had a hot or even warm shower. The pressure in the shower was really poor as well. We expect the temperature limitation has something to do with anti-scald safety in this very child-centered property, but we think there could be a better compromise to allow for more comfortable showers. Overall, this is a lovely property with a great location.
