ThisOcean View custom built home is located on the beautiful Puna coastline and the historic “Red Road”, which is one of the most scenic roads in the entire state Hawaii. This home has 2 Master bedrooms and 2 baths and sits on a private dead end street and a short walking distance to Kehena Black Sand Beach ( clothing optional) , home to spinner dolphins and Humpback whales in the winter mos.
Relax on your covered decks for that perfect morning sunrise and cooling trade winds. Enjoy your favorite drink and soak in the Ocean views and morning Sunrises! Located along the Puna Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii, this area offers, Black sand Beaches, Pohoiki Black Sand Beach Park, Lava tree State park and Kaimu Black Sand Beach. We are on a coast line but in a central location for swimming, eating, hiking and other vacation activities. Hilo town is a must visit with its colorful farmers market, spectacular Hilo Bay and the Hawaiian Tropical Botanic Gardens, as well as shopping, and interesting museums to learn all about the history of “The Big Island”. The East Side of the Big Island is a foodies’ paradise. The Beach House is only 40 minutes from Volcanoes National Park and see the Active Lava lake at Helemaumua crater, Thurston Lava Tube and steam vents on Kilauea, waterfalls and Hilo. Pahoa is only 9 miles away-it has some of the best dining, grocery, farmers market and shopping in our area. Kalapana, Uncle Robert's nighttime market, Makuu farmers and more.
As you enter the home, the first floor has an open living space floor plan with amazing ocean views, living, dining and full kitchen. Our French doors leads you to the open air covered Ocean view lanai. Conveniently located on the first floor is one of the two Master bedrooms and separate bathroom. Up the gorgeous wooden staircase is the very large and dramatic Ocean view 2nd Master bedroom with its own en suite bath and has its own private 2nd story open air covered ocean view lanai.
The full kitchen provides lots of room and counter space to prepare your favorite meals with ample counter space with ocean views. Grill you favorite meals out in the patio, have fun playing Ping Pong with it's own open air covered Lanai located in the first floor with garden views. The garage offers the washer and dryer and beach gear.Cool down and rinse off the sand from newly built lava stone outdoor shower with dramatic ocean views.

Summary: The host was extremely attentive and responded to our every need promptly. Staying in the rainforest for 3 days was truly a remarkable experience, but because of the gaps in the doors we had a lot of bugs in the house in the evenings. The kitchen was not stocked or organized well considering there are not many options for restaurants nearby. This home is in a beautiful yet very remote neighborhood. Downstairs bathroom did not have sufficient light and the window covering was broken so it was difficult to get any natural lighting. We were told to leave front door locked at al times, but all other outside doors did not have locks and windows were all left open since the house does not have air conditioning. We were fine with this and also with all of the fans provided, but we found out while being in town and speaking to a few locals that there is a lot of crime in Pahoa and that we should never 'break down" or this would be dangerous. We did not experience anything negative although when we attempted to eat in the town of Pahoa one night, there were several locals who seemed strung out so we left and did most of our cooking at home which we were perfectly ok with. Since there are not many options for nearby restaurants, the owner of this home may consider having a fully stocked and organized kitchen as the location of your home is prime. Thank you!
